Ethical Considerations in Social Media Extent and Dilemmas of Safeguarding Freedoms : Agents for Good or Evil?

Reflecting on our Leicester Award online employability course, and the importance of actively using all known Social Media on the Internet to connect and communicate.

These in turn made me think of far more reaching implications, beyond our course and into more serious issues least talked about! These can lead to complex and delicate matters being examined more closely with regard to various issues pertaining to our online presence & our SM 'brand' footprint.
Questions I feel we ought to be reflecting on when defining who we are in our meticulous search into online exposure, networking and employability!

Such as would excessive 'branding' of our self-image reflects truly who we are?... or will it reinforce impersonating a suitable 'character' we like but is not truly who we are...

How confident can we possibly be in trusting online footprints left by others?...
Could some be various forms of hoax to trick us into things?

How to differentiate the true from possible impostors in our online search, and indeed open connections & friendly communications?

These will inevitably lead to further ethical considerations, leading to further inspections of the extent of SM reach! The need to be aware of the pitfalls & possible dangers in our online activities, privacy matters, and most worrying the effects of global cybercrime (highlighted recently by fellow LA students & new blogger Alex with thanks!).

Some of these may not only target big corporations, governments and institutions...counting on 7 billion in the world population... A flourishing business for some, and a devastating disaster for others!

Intruding on people's private lives and possibly twisting facts & figures... stealing accounts... Alarming and crippling repercussions with numerous identity thefts!...

Crimes & corruption have never been made easier!!

These I believe are true dilemmas engendered by the Internet use and all the SM...How to curb & protect without infringement & limitations on all the sacred Freedoms! From freedom of expression, to extended freedom of learning & education, and the ever so important individual free will!?

Luckily, these are beyond our course here... and far beyond my own limited perceptions! Quite frankly, these are things I'd rather not think about, otherwise I would never open the Internet again!

Therefore, I am for the online plunge unhindered...being a rather insignificant small fish might be a good guarantee here...hopefully!:)
