The Importance of the Internet, Social Media & The Need to Being Connected Online!

The virtual world of the online www. has been a wonderful way to explore the world, understand a multitude of perspectives, and be in touch with the realities of life the way it is lived elsewhere; by one's friends & family away; or by how life goes on in different countries for different people.

It's just AMAZING to be able to have at your fingertips a window to different worlds, some are new and  bewildering; some we know, are familiar with and great to revisit whenever one fancies:)

Others are less pleasant and happy... Many places are quite shocking indeed! Frightening realities for many, lived in horrid ways for millions of people living in poverty and total neglect; deprived and destitute, going through life in total misery...

However, far from all these, in the comfort of my safe and pleasant home settings, I initially set up various social media accounts, even tried some time ago at blogging, but didn't feel the need to maintain it for long... Mainly, I was happy to settle with FB initially to keep connected with friends and family. But then, as time went by and these internet connections became widely used, with more entrenched social media tools, adding whole new perspectives beyond friendships, learning, career professions and your daily need to be in touch with the latest world news, and daily updates of what’s happening in our world, the countries we live in and those in distant lands we’re interested about.

Without any doubt, for me having the Internet, being online, and using the various Social Media is more than fulfilling one need! Being on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn is of course a must these days! They are indeed great for one’s career advancement and to connect with business clients and work colleagues, to network professionally in order to maximise one’s exposure to work opportunities and be in touch with other professionals who could be interested to know about you and bring you in for further mutual business development. After all, these are global times with cloud computing, B2B e-tools and Wi-Fi interconnectivity driving our virtual world and a new digital way of doing business across countries, with an ever wider diversity of people taking part in various web conferencing and global live streams.

All the good reasons Social Media have been created and have been so popular for sure!

I certainly use my online presence to learn, be in the know, understand the latest trends, be in touch of current events shaping our way of life... By being in touch with other people, people I don't even know and they don't know me, but through their special presence online, their remarkable life being recorded through their own online footprint, have somehow touched my life and have enriched the way I think, and the way I view the world, beyond the narrow space around me... and also, beyond my own narrow and naturally limited horizon...

Reading through all the relevant articles, thoughts, blogs, the news and documented papers is extremely rewarding to learn and feel connected this way. Even more so with all the video streaming, webcast lectures, talks, seminars and conferences bringing interesting debates right on your lap!

If you are passionate about the world and the people in it, these are relevant to the life we live in and our interconnected global environment, one influencing the other, no doubt... Therefore these will touch you in someway or another and make you think of all the permutations and varied possibilities existing in the world... reflecting more so on those yet to be known and be discovered!

It’s like going back to school everyday... you are hooked to your Idevice, being enriched with each and every optic fibre in use feeding your brain... and your soul through your online machine, leaving much more then footprints and personal traces translated into programmed algorithms, HTML & elements of pixels!

Many are indeed reflected in the life taking shape and form beyond our PC frames and windows J
