In Praise of Others!:)

Back to today, and my current decision to make a career move into HRM & Training, along business opportunities to coach, mentor and support others in their own professional drive to reach better heights for themselves and others.

It made me think how much more that same kind of trusted and inclusive relationships should apply between employees and senior management as it would between clients and consultants.

Laying the grounds of mutual support, respect and understanding; of constructive and positive communications; of a cooperative strive to do well and produce up to expectations, if not beyond! These are essential and fundamental concepts to agree on the ‘Terms & Conditions’, on our true intent to benefit one another.

Not to falter or disappoint, not to revert to senseless auto-drive and insensitive robotic manoeuvering. But do our best to improve and give back the best we have for the sake of each other, and in praise for a work well done.

As we all know well, perfection is hard to reach, when we all are to a certain extent somewhat flawed! We live in a fancy world of our own, we get entrenched in our own ways, we fall pray and follow the egocentric self, keeping us in doubts, and suffocating our resolve to actually excel!

These bring me to the conclusion that true success and great achievements can never be a one-way stream, or the works of a lone person. Though admittedly, we alone are gifted in various different ways, and we each need the freedom and creative space to accomplish and achieve on our own merits and be free to use our own wings in soaring to the top!

Yet, we certainly can never deny all the great efforts, good work done and tremendous contributions of others in our long-term success! These undoubtedly are major factors in our well-being and reinforced strength in our capabilities towards a positive rise to the top! Be it as a person, a professional or whole institutions!

Of course, the opposite is equally true!

Even Leonardo Da Vinci had cadaver to learn from! He actually owed his genius to them as much as to many other factors influencing his life.

From people and institutions, including extreme beliefs of his time! All of which contributed to his fame and success. From the society and the culture, with its flawed traditions, superstitious customs, and vain communities; to all nature's elements and human calamities affecting his world, playing a vital role in inspiring and fuelling his creative mind and great achievements.

Though of course, his own genius has been uncontested and unparalleled! Only he could have done what only Leonardo Da Vinci is capable of doing! Yet I wonder, would have Leonardo Da Vinci been able to do, what only he can do, without that same disturbing window to the world, extreme human grief and steep distorted outlook around him?

Back to our times, would Richard Branson of Virgin Atlantic for example, despite all the tremendous great work he personally has done and is still doing; would he still be able to sustain years and years of great business achievements if it wasn’t for all his background, extended family support, help and assistance from the people around him, his various allies and friends, all the social and professional institutions behind him?

We all owe so much to so many!

After all, individuals like people and institutions are living and coexisting thanks to the contributions of others, as much as thanks to their own efforts and hard work.

We are all yearning for a good life well lived, and a decent work well done. We all want to be part of the right solutions and the right actions in order to achieve a common goal, where each will get the chance to be praised and be proud!

To be sharing in one’s own hard efforts as much as in the successes of the whole communities we are part of, interact with and live for.

Praising and thanking others is the least we could do to show our gratitude to those well deserving!
